Cycling
Enjoy sunny dry days with amazing vistas. Every stay includes route maps, GPS downloads for garmins and smart phones and emergency back up. You can book guiding, coaching and carbon bike rental with ultegra or Di2 as required.
We have routes from 10kms to 200kms and everything in between, from high mountain climbs, to easier rolling countryside, to the test climbs of the pros, to the flatter rides to the Med.
The test climbs of the pros, El Mont and Rocacorba, start just 10kms from the door and rise up 1000 metres or you can ride into the Pyrenees up to a ski station at over 2000 metres in less than 50 miles from the Hotel’s door. We also have the 200km route which goes over the Pyrenees to the east and then follows a valley in France before ascending steeply back over the high Pyrennes back into the Province of Girona and descending back to the Hotel.
The rolling countryside of the land of the lake makes for easier and more relaxed cycling routes of 15 to 40kms, with visits to old stone villages, local cafes and country restaurants along the way. Enjoy a dip in the pristine Banyoles lake or enjoy a beer at a local artisan brewery. Visit the prehistoric caves of Serinya, the honey village of Crespia, the pumpkin village of Esponella, the medieval village of Besalu, the old museum in Banyoles with its prehistoric specimens, the geological rock formations at Estunes and Castellfollit de la Roca and the art in the forest installation at Can Gingebreda. There is something for everyone in easy reach of the Hotel’s door.
Longer rides of 70 to 100kms includes routes the the Greek and Roman ruins at Empuries and time to enjoy a dip in the Med, or the beautiful loop around the Volcanic national park to Olot, or the loop to historic Girona including if you wish the famous climb of Els Angels.
