Our touring camps are aimed at cyclists who enjoy exploring an area by bike. Camps can be from weekend, to weeklong, to 10-day camps or longer, depending on what you require. We offer both self guided and luxury touring camps and anything in between and we are open all year round. So please contact us with your requirements.
We have put a great deal of time and thought into our location, looking around the world for the perfect site. Consequently, the area we have chosen has an incredible variety of beautiful rides and terrain. Mas Pelegri is right in the midst of the best cycling and the best sites of interest this area has to offer. We have over 100 routes mapped from 20kms up to 200kms and these include routes through the wine growing area, a Salvador Dali route, up into the high Pyrenees, through the breathtaking Callascabra region, into the volcanic national park and through medieval towns and villages.
For the very fit Mas Pelegri has two 1000 metre climbs only 10kms from the door. One of these is the infamous Rocacorba. Dan Martin holds the recored time of 28 mins 45 secs. One of our guests also holds the record for the oldest person up Rocacorba, 83 years old and he did it in 1 hour 10 mins. A ski station at over 2000 metres is only 80kms, or 50 miles from the door. We also have flatter and more rolling routes through the local countryside, so beginners are welcome too. This area also has green routes or Via Verdes, which are easy routes with signposts and are often off road on easy trails. Every stay at Mas Pelegri includes route maps and GPS downloads and emergency help if you have a problem while cycling.
Self Guided
Individual prices start from 365 euros per week bed and breakfast based on 2 people sharing a room. For groups price start from 220 euros self catering or 250 euros per week B&B based on 4 people sharing a large suite. All packages include route maps and GPS downloads and emergency backup. Expert bike guides and coaches and sports massage therapists are available on either an hourly or daily rate. Carbon fiber bike rentals are available.
Luxury camps are available year round and include luxury en-suite accommodation, large breakfasts, three course lunches and dinners with half a bottle of wine, 2 massages per week, 2 entries into local site seeing locations, fully customized guiding, hydration and nutrition while riding, afternoon and evening trips to old town Girona, personal service, pick up and drop off at Barcelona or Girona airport, and all local taxes. On our luxury camps we make sure everyone gets to ride at their own level, so there is usually one coach or guide per 1 or 2 athletes, depending on ability. On our luxury camps you will enjoy beautiful scenery, while riding on quiet, well maintained roads. The weather is fantastically warm and sunny and you have the Pyrenees, the Garrotxa Volcanic National Park and the Mediterranean all within cycling distance (this is the training ground of a 7-time Tour de France winner). Cycling is also a national sport in Spain, so the other road users appreciate cyclists and will not try and run you off the road, so you can relax and enjoy your riding. Every ride will be lead by an expert cycling guide, and because our group sizes are small we can tailor the rides to personally fit your fitness level.
This area of Catalonia has an immense variety of artistic, historic and natural wonders, from the Salvador Dali Museum and Castle, to the Greek and Roman cities at Empuries, to the National Parks of Garrotxa and Cap de Creus, to the beautiful historic towns and villages of Besalu, Rupit and Beget (Pyrenees). There is also the local wine growing region were you can enjoy wine tasting or a wine tour en-route. We also offer day trips to Barcelona and other local cities. Distinctively, as our camps are kept small, we can customise your trip to best fit your interests. We also arrange day trips to watch the major tours, for example the Tour de Catalonia in March, the Tour de France in July and the Vuelta d'Espana in September.
In this area there are also many local festivals including the Girona flower festival, the Crespia honey festival, the Besalu Medieval festival, the Calcot festival, the Snail festival, the Cheese festival, the horse festival and the pumpkin festival. So during your stay we will try to include a visit to one of these festivals. If you are espeically interested in seeing a particular festival we can tell you the time of year and arange a customized camp for you.
Clubs and groups are very welcome.
